Alex Siew Wee Chai – Speaker Profile
Alex Siew Wee Chai is an Information Technology and quantitative finance specialist with extensive expertise in developing AI-powered solutions for capital market analysis, algorithmic trading, and investment decision support. He holds a Master in Information Technology in Business from Lincoln University, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Commerce (double major in Accounting and Marketing) from Deakin University, Australia. He is also a certified HRD Corp Accredited Trainer.
Alex began his career with PwC before moving into the financial markets, where he accumulated over 15 years of experience spanning equity and derivatives investment, quantitative research, corporate finance, private equity funding, and fund management. His unique strength lies in combining advanced information technology, artificial intelligence, machine learning, quantitative analytics, and financial market expertise to develop innovative trading and investment solutions.
During his tenure as Fund Manager at VCB Capital, Alex led the development of technology-driven investment research frameworks, quantitative models, capital risk monitoring systems, and AI-assisted market analysis tools. He subsequently served as Investment Director of Airo, CP Global Fintech Solution Sdn Bhd (Airo), Securities Commission Malaysia Licensed Fintech Intermediaries, where he further advanced AI-enabled investment technologies and digital wealth management solutions.
Alex also served as Head of the Quant Trading (AI Trading) Department at Kenanga Investment Bank, leading the design and implementation of machine learning algorithms and AI-assisted trading strategies for Bursa Malaysia. Leveraging his strong programming and data analytics capabilities, he has developed proprietary software for automated market screening, algorithmic trading, derivatives hedging, portfolio analytics, and AI-assisted share trading solutions.
In academia, Alex has more than a decade of experience as a part-time lecturer, teaching quantitative finance, financial analytics, and statistical computing using MATLAB, EViews, IBM SPSS, and R. He continues to advise quantitative trading institutions, conduct research on AI applications in capital markets, and deliver professional training on AI-driven investment strategies, quantitative trading, and financial technology for investment professionals.
